Drivers are advised that there is ongoing construction work on Barnet Highway at View Street for the Evergreen Line tunnel. Starting today and continuing until Friday, May 3, there will be temporary daytime lane closures on Barnet Highway in both directions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

One westbound lane on Clarke Street near Barnet Highway will also be temporarily closed as part of this work.

While construction in this area is underway, drivers are advised that the speed limit for traffic will be reduced to 40 kilometres per hour in this area.

A key goal of the Evergreen Line Rapid Transit Project is to minimize construction related disruption and maximize traffic flow and predictability during construction activities. EGRT Construction is the consortium who will design and build the Evergreen Line Rapid Transit Project. The 11 kilometre light rail transit will connect with and extend TransLink’s existing SkyTrain System from Lougheed Town Centre in Burnaby through Port Moody, to Douglas College in Coquitlam. EGRT Construction will be responsible for the construction of elevated and at-grade guideways, a two-kilometre bored tunnel, seven stations, power substations, train operating systems, parking facilities, and a vehicle storage and light maintenance facility. The Evergreen Line is expected to be complete in the summer of 2016.
